Outbound spam and blacklisting is a growing problem for ISPs, Web hosters, managed email providers and other types of email service providers in terms of costs and service disruptions.

A new research study found:

  • 68% of service providers are experiencing costs up to $100,000 per year in dealing with outbound spam; an additional 4% are spending over $250,000 per year.
  • Almost 40% of service providers report having had their IP addresses blacklisted in the past 12 months alone.
  • Nearly 70% of service providers are in the process of evaluating solutions for their outbound spam problem; 50% expect to deploy a solution within the next 12 months.
