As there is no Acronis Universal Restore for Linux, there is no direct way to convert a backup archive of a Linux operating system to a virtual machine.
So, we will see how we can do it. Please follow the steps carefully below.
- Using Acronis backup software, create a backup archive of your Linux operating system;
- Create a new virtual machine of the desired type;
- Boot the virtual machine from an ISO containing Acronis Bootable Rescue Media.
- Once booted from Acronis Bootable Media, restore the backup archive of your Linux operating system to the virtual machine;
- Proceed as described in Transferring Linux to Dissimilar Hardware to make the resulting system bootable.
As you can see, it is not big deal!..
